Access to clean and safe drinking water is one of the basic necessities of life. In Sierra Leone such access to clean water is difficult and if available it is very expensive to acquire in homes and businesses. Variety Children and Family Services spent lots of money to get the government water company to get water to the children’s home without any realization of it. The children had to go out of the home in search of water on public streets. Such venture was very risky and dangerous because children got hit by taxis or motor bikes or worst case, girls are raped in the process as they scramble to get water late in the night.
