The medical clinic at Variety Children’s home is responsible for the primary medical care for children at the children’s home, new admissions and children in foster homes. The program nurse treats all minor illnesses such as malaria, typhoid fever, minor cuts and wounds, rash, administration of worm medications etc. When children in the home become ill, they are referred to the medical clinic for observation and if necessary that child will be isolated for treatment. Children’s medical issues which cannot be treated at the facility are often referred to our medical partners such as the Aberdeen Women’s Center or the government hospital at Connaught. Variety Children’s medical clinic is also sponsored by West Lane Medical Clinic of Stockton California.

Certified Foster Family Agency
The concept of child protection established by Variety Children and Family Services in Sierra Leone is based on the global concept of Non Institutionalization of children. This therefore mean that the founders of Variety Children and Family services do not believe in the old concept of housing children in orphanages but that of a community based concept which is centered on placing children in certified foster homes in communities. Variety Children is of firm belief that the child should grow up in his/her local community where all the psycho-social issues that confronted him/her in the first place would gradually give way to normalcy after continuous interaction with the immediate community institutions such as community schools, community churches, normal family home settings etc.
With this concept in mind and in the best interest of the children, Variety Children established a comprehensive process of certification of interested families who have the compassion to become De Facto parents in the lives of these vulnerable children. ( See Foster Parents certification process
The Heartwarming Connection: A Nurse and Variety Children's
In the quiet corridors of Variety Children’s home(orphanage), a place filled with stories of hope and resilience, a beautiful moment was recently captured on camera. The image depicted a nurse, a beacon of care and comfort, embracing one of the many children who call this place home. This photograph, though simple, tells a powerful story of compassion, dedication, and the profound impact of human connection.

A Lifeline for Children's Health and Well-being
In the bustling world of orphanages, where care and compassion form the bedrock of everyday life, the orphanage pharmacy stands as a vital cornerstone. This often-overlooked facility plays a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of the children who rely on it. At Variety Children Home(orphanage), the pharmacy is more than just a place where medications are dispensed; it is a lifeline that supports the physical and emotional health of every child within its walls.
