About Us

Our Mission

Variety Children and Family Services (VCFS) is a child protection agency  with concentration on three core initiatives. i.The provision of an Emergency Shelter for Children in crisis (ICC) traditionally called the orphanage. ii. Certified foster Care placement in certified foster homes. iii. Adoption of children in long term placement in foster homes or  children awaiting for a long period to be placed in foster homes. Therefore Variety Children is an Interim Care Center, a foster family and adoption agency.  Variety Children & Family Services work in collaboration with the government of Sierra Leone to rehabilitate orphans and vulnerable children in crisis by providing holistic care in nurturing and loving homes.

How we started

Variety Children and Family Services is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) formed in Sierra Leone in January 2012 to provide de facto parenting to babies, infants, street children, and orphans of the Ebola outbreak and other natural disasters of the country in therapeutic foster homes.

This NGO aims to intervene in the lives of children whose lives are at risk and may pose a future danger to national peace and stability and the broader security of the world. We provide individualized rehabilitative services in nurturing homes, emphasizing each child’s education. In addition, we offer family tracing, recognition and rehabilitation of family connections, and eventual reunification of children with their family of origin.

Our primary duty and obligation to these children is to educate them, give them hope and prepare them for the future.

VCFS strives for realistic solutions to children’s issues through a public betterment corporation. These issues range from trends, characteristics, behaviors and challenges to working with children who have been abandoned, physically, emotionally and sexually abused, orphaned due to the Ebola outbreak or other disasters and have developed severe emotional, mental and psycho-social disorders.
